The Clinical Research Centres Respiratory Medicine (in German: IKF Pneumologie Frankfurt & Mainz) are dedicated to advancing the diagnosis and treatment of respiratory diseases.
The Certification Body of TÜV SÜD Management Service GmbH certifies that both institutes have established and applied a Quality Management System for Clinical Research, Conducting clinical Trials Phase I-III.
A key focus of our work is research into new drug approaches to treat common diseases like bronchial asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and allergies.
In addition, the focus is increasingly on associated diseases in the field of infection prophylaxis / infectiology, cardiovascular diseases and diabetology.

Respiratory diseases are continuously increasing. In Germany, about 6% of adults and about 10% of children suffer from bronchial asthma. One in ten adults over the age of 40 develop chronic obstructive bronchitis (COPD), and the trend is rising sharply.
The Clinical Research Centre Respiratory Medicine Frankfurt was founded in 2009 by the medical specialists Dr. med. Berthold Michels, Dr. med. Marc-Oliver Kommann and Dr. med. Andreas Eich, in close cooperation with the interdisciplinary specialist centre Sachsenhausen (IFS) with the focus pulmonology.
The Clinical Research Centres Respiratory Medicine Mainz was founded in 2020.
The centre has state-of-the-art facilities and employs the most modern scientific research methods. Our specialists’ medical expertise goes hand-in-hand with their many years of experience in the fields of pulmonology, allergology and infectiology.
